Measure of temperature outside the capsule (red line, right-side y-axis), inside the capsule (green line), and balloon elevation (blue line, left-hand scale).

You can clearly see the temperature inversion between the troposhere and stratosphere.  The lowest recorded temperature was -37F at about 47K feet.  Also note that the temperature inside the capsule was quite moderate with the lowest value recorded at 32 degrees.







Ascent/Descent velocity calculated using the change in GPS altitude.

The balloon rose 500 ft/min during the ascent.

After bursting the balloon descended at a velocity of 8,200 ft/minute (93 miles per hour) and gradually slowed as it entered the troposphere. The balloon impacted the ground at about 15 miles per hour.
